LEGO Architecture

Last week I blogged about Adam Reed Tucker of Brickstructures partnering with LEGO to create a new LEGO Architecture line, primarily aimed at sales in museums, landmarks and other tourist destinations. This interview on Chicago WBEZ radio (audio and a transcript available at the link) gives more details on how this came together. Perhaps the key new news in this piece is "Lego’s next endeavor in its architectural line includes New York’s Empire State Building and Seattle’s Space needle, which are scheduled to come out later this year." If you look at the accompanying photo, you can see these models, plus two that I think are the Trump building and Aon Center, both in Chicago (this from comparing to the large models he features on his site).

Space battle

Here's a display from last year's Star Wars Celebration IV. Todd Kubo built the Blockade Runner and Gary McIntire helped with the other ships and the battle layout.

Micro moonbase

Andrew Lee (and other Lugola members? most of these are definitely Andrew's, but there are others that are new to me) assembled a great micro moonbase.

More fleets

Microspace wars (previous post) looks like a lot of fun. Here are more fleets by Soren, Lukas and Memory.

Game on!

What better pairing than wargames and microspace? Spook has posted a set of rules for play so you can match your microfleet up against your opponents. For gameplay, he's got a great Ninth Death Nine fleet of warships. Lukas has his own rules variation and here is his Rashtan Iciac Light Cruiser and support ships.

Official fan kits

Adam Reed Tucker of BrickStructures has teamed with LEGO to market two official fan designed sets of the John Hancock Center and the Sears Tower. These are currently on sale in specialty shops around Chicago, but you can order them on-line by following the links above. Adam has a ton of great architectural models on his site, so hopefully this LEGO Architecture line will go further. Thanks to the Brothers Brick and BrickJournal for the heads-up.

If you subscribe to BrickMaster, you get a bimonthly magazine, some coupons and other deals, and six exclusive LEGO sets. The November/December set for this year will be a mini Clone Turbo Tank. FBTB has a preview picture. Thanks to the Brothers-Brick for the heads-up.

Three weeks ago I noted that there was a special commemorative Space Shuttle for the opening of a new LEGO store in Houston. PhotoKuo has some good pictures

Happy 4th of July

232 years ago, little tiny men gathered in Arthur Gugick's Independence Hall for the presentation of a document declaring the independence of Legoland California from Legoland Windsor. Er, something like that. Happy Fourth.

Citigroup

I'm not sure if this is a new version, but I've never blogged it and Spencer Rezkalla's Citigroup building just showed up on the Brickshelf recent page.
