Hot wheels

In his series of vehicles, Coverture has a nice wheel solution using skateboard wheels and wrenches (I know, both Bricklink and Peeron call this a bar with clip).




While we're on town vehicles, Benny888 has a nice dozer.

Wrenches are a minifig tool that won't grab. I call those "bar with clip" pieces robot hands.
