And now in ABS

I recently noted how Kecia Hansen is featured in the most recent issue of BrickJournal. Apparently for that article she built real life versions of some of her digital MOCs: castle and trains.

HRMC Project

GFLUG, the Greater Florida LEGO Users Group, was commissioned by an architectural firm that was renovating the Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida, to build a LEGO version of the hospital. The architectural firm displayed this at a recent medical conference in Orlando and will soon be on display at the hospital. BTW, five builders finished this project in only two weekends!

Interestingly, they used a brick built fig solution that I'd never seen before, that puts the scale of this MOC at a little over half-minifig scale.

Nnenn wins

I don't know what the contest is, but if it has anything to do with microspace, Nnenn is probably the winner. Here are his fleetwars MOCs.

I think that this is Nannan Z's first microscale MOC, the , the once most formidable battle station.

BrickJournal

BrickJournal Issue 9 is out! Be sure to download this, as this is the last free issue. Starting with the next issue, BrickJournal will be available in a print version. Follow the link above to learn more about subscription.

This issue has good content for the microscale builder. First up, there is a feature on French AFOL Eric Borrega and his Miniville microscale layout.

Kecia Hansen is another featured builder, and she discusses her microscale building along with other themes.

An article about Henning Birkeland focuses mainly on his large-scale cars, but also addresses his LDD micro designs

There are also instructions for a new Executor Super Star Destroyer by Chris Deck (Legostein) (personal site, Brickshelf gallery). In smaller microscale mentions, an article about Matt DeLanoy (Pepa Quin) shows his mini Millenium Falcon MOCs (alongside much larger models), and pictures from the 75th Anniversary Celebration in Billund include Burkhard Schlomer's (BrickCommander's) Imperial ships.

Massive microspace update

In recent weeks there have been tons of great microspace MOCs that I've bookmarked but haven't had a chance to blog, so I'll put them together in one listing:

Legohaulic presents the Righteous Indeavor, a communications frigate.

Two new fleets from Nnenn, the Pevid Freighter and escort and the Hurassa cargo-shuttle and escort

Czekoladowyboss built the Medium Battle-Ship Prometheus class, no. 2

Adrian Florea presents this Escort carrier and gunships

Tony Barth's cargo ship and cargo carrier

Vdude's AT2 Light Cargo Frigate

Gladius' Iciac Light Cruiser

Gear9242's Long range support craft

A Major builder

Justin Major displayed several micro MOCs at NWBrickCon. There aren't great photos of them from NWBC, so it's easiest to link back to his Brickshelf gallery. He brought a modified version of his Island fortress (the castle itself without the surrounding island and seascape), and also his steamboat, a temple, the Smith Tower, and, appropriately for a Seattle con, the Space Needle.

Back to Seattle

I've already blogged these MOCs, but it's always good to see the builders as well. Andrew Lee poses with his Comoros, which won "Best Micro," and Shannon Young shows off Shannonia.

Transamerica

Arthur Gugick continues his series of architectural landmarks with the Transamerica Pyrimid. Also, he's just turned a room in his house into a gallery to display his MOCs.

A Portuguese town

I'll get back to NWBrickCon, but not all of the action is in Seattle this weekend. Tania Baixinho, of LegOficina dos Baixinhos, has built this town, apparently for a trivia contest. I know she reads this blog, so if you see this, Tania, let us know more about this

MicroCon

More micro goodness from NWBrickCon: a city scene and a moonbase and the trophies. Hopefully someone will get some closeup pics tomorrow and also post who the creators were (hint, hint, Andrew or Josh, in case you're checking up on the blogs before you go back to the fest tomorrow morning). There's also some of Andrew Lee's great microspace that I've previously blogged. Update - According to Dunechaser, Andrew Lee apparently won the prize for best micro. I'll report further details when I hear more.

A growing city

NWBrickCon, a gathering of AFOLs in Seattle, starts today. Joe Meno has already posted some pictures from setup last night, and it appears that Shannon Young is there with his city, Shannonia, which has doubled in size since I blogged it last.

Set 4891 - Highway Haulers

Set 4891, Highway Haulers, was released in 2006. It contained 209 elements and cost only US$10. As with other sets in the Creator and Designer lines, there were instructions for several models you could make using these pieces--in this case, six different vehicles--and also pictures of ten other possible creations as inspiration to the builder.

Brickshelf user zFERRY has posted pictures of all of the models with instructions and also several of the alternate models.

Set 4891 on Brickset and Lugnet. Instructions on BrickFactory. Inventory on Peeron. Buy it on Bricklink.
