A new and improved tower

A few days ago I noted that Spencer Rezkalla brought his Eiffel Tower to BrickWorld and linked to an image from his Brickshelf gallery. Spencer noted that I had linked to his original tower, but at BrickWorld he debuted a new version. I think this is the MOCpage for the new one. BTW, it's very cool to learn when a builder I've featured here reads this blog. I wonder how many of my other favorite builders read this?

More architecture

I didn't blog these before because I thought they might actually be at fig scale, but Adam Reed Tucker of Brickstructures.com has a large number of amazing skyscrapers.

Sky... um ceiling... um kneescrapers

Looking through the galleries from BrickWorld 2008, held this past weekend, Spencer Rezkalla brought several of his skyscrapers (here are his pictures of them). I really would have loved to have been there to see these and Arthur Gugick's work all in one place. I'm not sure if any of these are new, as I've blogged several of them before, so let's take a look at Spencer's great Eiffel Tower, which was also on display this weekend.

Houston, we have store

This past weekend, LEGO held a grand opening for their new store in Houston, and TexLUG members, including Anthony Sava, were there for the party. LEGO created this shuttle orbiter as a give-away to lucky participants.

You have done well, Rong Yiren

Rong Yiren has a great tiny Emperor's Arrival - instantly recognizable even at such a small scale. Thanks to Andrew of the Brothers Brick for the heads-up.

Itty bitty navy

I was just looking through Andrew Becraft's Brickshelf gallery and notice some old creations of WWII warships. In particular I thought his USS Fanning and USS Thresher demonstrate how effective you can be with a very small number of elements in microscale. At this scale it would be possible to recreate a whole epic naval battle. Maybe we can induce Andrew to go back and build some more.

Brickworld 2008

This weekend BrickWorld is being held just outside of Chicago. Nannan, of The Brothers-Brick is there and has already posted some pictures, including this one of MicroBricks favorite Arthur Gugick and several of his architectural landmarks. I'll be sure to make note of the micro (and vig, and miniland) creations we'll see in photos from this event.

Hickory dickory dock

Eric Hunter made this great clock tower at what can be called classic-scale. He's also got a number of great vehicles to accompany it, some inspired by Sean Kenney and Uli Myer.

Shannonia, now seen from space

I can't believe it's been a year. Shannon Young continues to add to Shannonia with a southward expansion, dominated by Shannonia International Airport. Shannon is planning on doubling the size of his city by BrickCon (formerly NWBrickCon) in October.
